Each year 8 to 10 students from the Augusta High School Champions club are selected to particpate in a group known as the Teens Against Tobacco Use. These students attend training in the month of November in order to present an assembly to fellow students concerning the dangers of tobacco use. The annual assembly put on by this team targets 6th grade students because data suggests it is at this age when students are more likely to try tobacco for the first time. The team uses a variety of ways to present the information during the assembly such as video programming, discussion and skits.
Members of the team are Chelsea Barrett, Jameel Halawani, Josh Hardymon, Caleb Hunt, Jacob Kelsch, Desiree Spradlin, Chelsea Rolph and Kyle Wislon. Rob Hall, Director of District Services for Augusta Schools and Lisa Bex, FRYSC Coordinator are the sponsors.
